From one startup founder to another, here's something we can all relate to: the journey from idea to execution is full of highs, lows, and moments where everything feels like it’s on the line. September has always been a special month for Lazo, but this year, it’s truly become a "Perfect Storm." Today, we’re proud to share that Lazo has been selected to compete in TechCrunch's Startup Battlefield at Disrupt 2024. Out of thousands of applicants, we’re among the top 200 startups that will be showcased in Silicon Valley—the global stage for the hottest, most innovative companies.

This moment is more than a milestone. It’s validation of everything we’ve been building over the last three years—the product vision, the AI technology, and the business that started in Latin America and is now expanding to the US and beyond. And it all came together in this pivotal month of September.

September: The Perfect Storm

It’s no coincidence that all of this is happening at once. September marks the one-year anniversary of me stepping into my role as Co-founder and COO at Lazo. I joined because I saw the incredible potential to transform Lazo into a product-led company, fueled by the powerful combination of knowledge graphs and Generative AI (GenAI). Over the last year, we’ve been relentlessly focused on building Lazo One, a platform that helps founders unlock insights and make data-driven decisions to scale their businesses.

This month, we also completed the full migration of all our customers onto the Lazo One platform. It’s a huge milestone that reflects our evolution from idea to implementation—turning what was once a vision into a tangible product that’s making a difference for our clients.

And now, to top it all off, being selected for TechCrunch Disrupt is like the universe confirming we’re on the right path. It’s recognition not just of the technology we’ve developed over the past 12 months, but of the grit, strategy, and relentless focus that’s driven us to this point.

A Validation of Vision

At Lazo, we set out to solve a very specific problem for founders—especially those jumping into the entrepreneurial journey for the first time. After helping thousands incorporate their companies, manage bookkeeping and taxes, and ensure all legal documentation was in place to successfully raise the capital needed to scale, we realized we needed to make this entire process more efficient.

Leveraging my experience in knowledge graphs and AI, I knew we could transform how businesses operate—giving founders the tools to make smarter decisions and execute with more precision. In fact, we coined a term for it because no one was supporting founders through the scaleup journey the way we do. From incorporation, setting up accounting, to making sure all the legal Ts are crossed and Is are dotted, Lazo is leveraging AI to give founders superpowers. We call it AI-powered startup operations, and we've trademarked it as Augmented Ops™.

What started in Latin America has now grown beyond what we initially imagined. We are now serving customers from over 15 countries, helping them succeed in the US—the world’s leading startup ecosystem. Our selection to TechCrunch Disrupt is validation that our vision resonates on a global level, and we’re honored to be included among the world's most innovative startups of 2024.

Timing is Everything

This "Perfect Storm" of September—where we celebrate a year of product leadership, complete our platform migration, and get recognized on the world stage—didn’t happen by chance. It happened because of conviction in our vision, the right team, and a relentless pursuit of what we knew was possible.

Startups are full of unpredictable twists and turns. There are moments when you question everything. But when the storm hits and you’ve got the right foundation in place, it clears the way for incredible breakthroughs. That’s what this month has been for us at Lazo—a breakthrough moment.

As we look ahead to TechCrunch Disrupt and beyond, I’m more excited than ever about what’s next for Lazo. We’ve built something that matters, and now the world is starting to take notice.

If you’re in the thick of your own storm, my advice is simple: trust your vision, trust your team, and trust that things will align in ways you never imagined. September has proven that to us, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
